494-Process Engineer

Position Responsibilities

The Process Engineer will report to the site Operations Manager and will be responsible for the following items:

• Provide hands-on technical and advisory support to a PET resins manufacturing area

• Troubleshoot production problems and provide timely corrective and preventive actions

• Monitor and analyze process and production data to enhance day to day operations of area

• Implement process improvements and reliability initiatives to improve yields, capacity, quality, cost, energy and safety

• Support and provide guidance during plant upsets, shutdowns, and startups

• Provide resolution of NCR/TPR, RCFA, Process Optimization Trade Leadership implementation and process related incident action items.

• Track long-term performance of process equipment and initiate capital projects

• Comply with plant safety rules and improve safety through engineered improvements

• Provide education and training to the operations team for better understanding of the process

• Provide interface and effective support to customer product concerns

• Participate and support all area and plant-wide development and improvement initiatives

• Initiate and support new product development and trial plans

• Participate in technical projects (Cost, Energy, Quality, Capacity, etc.)

• Provide operational back-up as needed for emergencies for assigned, as well as for other locations as needed.

• Roughly 10% travel required for training, project work, best practices alignment


Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Chemical

· 3 - 5 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment is desired

· 3.0 GPA minimum

· Experience in Polyester Staple/Resin Processes (Continuous or solid state Polymerization) desired

· Safe work habits with high energy level

· Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) with proficiency in data analysis

· Excellent analytical, problem solving, and trouble-shoooting skills

· Self motivated with good people skills

· Strong organization skills and planning skills

· Results oriented - ability to translate key area and business needs into the right priorities and actions

· Quick learner and self-initiator with a proven ability to partner with team members and across teams

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· ‘Out of the box’ thinking experience
